Read below for more details about the process.

Either call our office or email us a basic brief

We’ll have a chat about what you are looking for and your budget. If you find something that is pretty close to suiting your requirements – great, we will get the ball rolling!

We'll help you design what you want

If not, don’t worry – we’ll customise a bespoke design just for you. The cost to prepare a custom sketch design and preliminary costing is $3000 (+GST). This fee also includes a preliminary specification showing a list of inclusions and exclusions and extra options you may wish to consider. Get together some site details, any photographs and perhaps some site levels if you have them if not we can arrange this on your behalf. It would be even better if you have a Copy of Title so we can assess whether you have any restrictions such as easements, building covenants, planning overlays or possibly protected vegetation.

After we’ve had another chat and covered amendments you may have to the plans and the level of finish you require we’ll prepare a formal quotation. This will include the amended sketch plans and preliminary specifications outlining the inclusions and exclusions and additional options you may want to consider. Any additional changes to the sketch plans or preliminary specifications at this stage will need to be paid for – don’t worry, not a lot of money we just need to cover our administration costs for the time it takes to make the necessary amendments.

The preliminary agreement is now signed and a fee of $4000 (+GST) paid so that we can get the rest of the team working on your project.

We'll sort out the red tape

Preliminary working drawings are now prepared, these will be used to assist with the planning process and for the building surveyor’s initial review. We’ll also arrange for a soil report and the detailed costing to be firmed up. A Planning Permit may be required depending on your location, if so we’ll discuss this with you and establish the best plan of attack.

Okay then, we’re getting closer to the exciting stage – building! However, before we can commence building a contract has to be signed. We use a standard HIA Kit Home Building Contract that we complete and walk you through to make sure the conditions, payment schedules, inclusions and exclusions, plans and specifications are clearly understood. The initial deposit of 50% of the contract amount should be paid at this stage, less the initial $4000 (+GST) paid.

Now that the drawings have been completed we can arrange for the Building Permit Application and any necessary local authority permits on your behalf.

You're building!

Construction can usually start 6 – 8 weeks after the Building Permit has been issued. How long it takes of course also depends on the size of your Convertible Home however for most builds we would expect to be completed in 6 -8 months!

Designology will work with you to source a local contractor to oversee the construction. We provide supervision at designated project milestone stages and sign off prior to proceeding to ensure the quality and integrity of your Convertible Home is maintained.
